Financial Aid & Scholarship Information
Investing in a college education is often a major financial decision, and many students need to look beyond their own limited resources for assistance.
Mercer's Office of Student Financial Planning has consistently provided attractive financial aid packages to a large percentage of our students. In fact, at least 97% of Mercer's students received some form of financial
assistance in 2009-2010. Financial assistance is available to help pay a student's tuition in addition to other educational expenses and may include scholarships, grants, loans and part-time employment.

Below are instructions for completing the Mercer University financial aid process. You should submit the appropriate information as soon as possible if you wish to be considered for every type of assistance
available.
For more information concerning federal assistance from the U.S. Department of Education, please visit their Web site
at www.studentaid.ed.gov.
INSTRUCTIONS
- In order to sign your FAFSA on the Web electronically, you must obtain a PIN (Personal Identification Number). If you do not already have a PIN, you must apply for one online at
www.pin.ed.gov. Parents of dependent students must also have a PIN to sign electronically. If you have forgotten your PIN, you may request a duplicate online. After your
application is complete, you may choose to view your PIN online or have it emailed to you. If you and your parent do not sign electronically with a PIN, you MUST print and mail a signature page to the Federal processor,
which will delay the process by one to two weeks.
- Complete the 2010-2011 FAFSA on the Web at www.fafsa.ed.gov as soon as possible after January 1, 2010. Approximately two weeks after you submit your FAFSA on the Web,
you will be sent a Student Aid Report (SAR) through a secure link on the Internet to the email address you provided on your application. If you do not receive your SAR, you may check the status of your application
online at www.fafsa.ed.gov or by calling 1-800-4-FED-AID. Please review the SAR for accuracy, ensuring that Mercer University is listed as a college you plan to attend. Mercer
University will not electronically receive your information unless our federal school code (001580) is listed. Print a copy of the SAR for your records. If you need to make corrections to any information on the SAR,
please follow instructions and submit corrections online immediately. NOTE: Student and parent MUST sign the SAR with a PIN if corrections are submitted online.
- You must be accepted for admission to the University as a degree-seeking student before any aid can be awarded.
- If you are a Georgia resident, you will need to complete GSFApps in order to apply for the HOPE Scholarship and the Georgia Tuition Equalization Grant. This application is available online by going to
gacollege411.org and selecting Georgia Scholarship Grant Application (GSFAPPS) through the "Shortcuts" menu. You must log in to your GACollege411.org account to complete the application.
Please make sure that you select Mercer University as the private institution you plan to attend on your application in order for Mercer to receive your electronic application.
DEADLINES
We recommend that you submit your FAFSA to the federal processor by February 15, 2010, in order for Mercer to receive your SAR by our priority deadline. All required forms must be RECEIVED in our office by this date in order for you to be given priority consideration. REMEMBER, IT TAKES APPROXIMATELY FOUR WEEKS
FROM THE TIME YOU SUBMIT YOUR FAFSA UNTIL OUR OFFICE RECEIVES THE RESULTS.
