Choose Mercer

For Parents

Resources for ParentsMercer puts your student's needs first - academically, physically, and emotionally.

Having your son or daughter begin his or her university career can be a stressful experience for parents, especially if your student has not lived away from home before. During this important time of transition for the family, many parents put their own feelings and reactions on hold while helping their son or daughter prepare for university life. Attending to your own emotional needs, however, as well as your student's, will go a long way toward helping everyone feel comfortable with the challenges that going to college represents.

Campus Safety
Officers of the Mercer Police Department patrol campus and are readily available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. In addition, a system of "blue light call stations" are located around campus to alert campus police in case of an emergency. Security cameras are installed in strategic locations and are monitored around the clock.

Fitness, Fun, and Athletics
There is never a shortage of activities for students to participate in - national sororities and fraternities, honor societies, religious organizations, academic and interest clubs, intramural sports, and more. Students have access to state-of-the-art fitness facilities and equipment housed inside of our University Center. The University Center also houses Mercer's athletic offices. Our athletes participate in NCAA Division I athletics, including men's basketball, baseball, cross-country, golf, rifle, soccer, and tennis, and women's basketball, cross-country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball.

Housing and Residence Life
Students are required to live on campus during their first two years of school. We want your student to feel at home on Mercer's campus. There are numerous housing options available - from dormatories to apartments for upperclassmen. Learn more about your student's housing options. Mercer's dining options are among the best that you will find. Our Fresh Food Company is not your typical college cafeteria. Students have a huge variety of "all-you-can-eat" meal options that are prepared as they request. The University Center also features a mall-style food court, which is home to Chick-fil-a, Subway, GrillWorks, Freshen's Smoothies, and JavaCity.

Student Financial Planning
We work hard to make a Mercer education affordable for everyone. This includes identifying the various types of aid that students are eligible for. All incoming students are assigned a financial counselor who will walk them through the financial aid process. Click here for more information about financial aid, scholarships, and pricing.

Student Health Center
The staff of the Student Health Center offers excellent care to Mercer students, ranging from immunizations to medications. The Center also provides a variety of health education programs to keep Mercer healthy.
