Mercer is located in historic Macon, Georgia - a welcoming community of small-town values with big city amenities just one hour south of Atlanta. Macon is the cultural, educational and medical hub of central Georgia.

Approximately 2,300 traditional undergraduates attend Mercer on the Macon campus. Forty-five states and 69 countries are represented among the entire student body.

While there are no minimums to achieve for admission consideration, the 2007-2008 incoming freshman SAT ranged from 1180-1280 and the average high school GPA ranged from 3.5-3.65.

What is the deadline to apply for admission to Mercer?

Because Mercer operates on a plan-based admissions calendar, applications are processed depending on the plan under which a student applies. The plans are:

1. Early Action: This plan is designed for those who would like an early decision notification, but who do not wish to make an early commitment to attend. Also, students interested in being considered for the most attractive scholarship opportunities are encouraged to apply through the Early Action Plan. The deadline for Early Action admission is November 1.
2. Regular Decision: This plan is the most common method of applying for undergraduate admission at Mercer. Students must submit their application and supporting documents (preferably by May 1). Mercer will notify Regular Decision applicants every three weeks, beginning in January.

The University operates on the semester calendar system which begins in mid-August and ends in early May.

Are freshmen required to live on campus?

All freshmen and sophomores (first-year and/or transfer students) are required to live on campus, with the exception of married students, students above the age of 21, students with children and/or students who live at home with a parent or guardian within a reasonable commuting distance (within 40 miles of Macon).

Nearly 30% of Mercer's undergraduate students are members of Mercer's Greek system's seven sororities and ten fraternities.
